“Avast Acquires AVG for $1.3 Billion as Antivirus Industry Consolidates”
Avast has announced it is acquiring AVG Technologies for $1.3 billion and the deal is expected to close between September 15 and October 15, 2016. These two well-known vendors in the consumer antivirus space will be coming together and will be protecting more than 400 million endpoints around the world. Both companies have their roots in the Czech Republic and offer free consumer antivirus products and they both moved beyond just desktop and went on to protect mobile devices too. The deal was announced by Avast’s CEO, Vincent Steckler in a blog post were he stated, “These companies are so similar that it is only natural that they be combined and that is what we are now planning on doing.” For the full article, click here
