Setup Gmail on Microsoft Outlook

If your business runs on Microsoft Office you may find yourself wanting to use Outlook as your default email client. As many businesses use Gmail as their preferred email provider this tutorial will help you set up your Gmail on Microsoft Outlook.
Prepare Gmail
- Login to your gmail account.
- Click the gear icon on the top right, and choose Settings from the drop-down menu.
- Select Forwarding and POP/IMAP from the top row of menus.
- Choose the option for Enable IMAP in the IMAP Access section and click save changes.
You are now ready to setup your Gmail on Outlook
- From the menu select File and Account Settings.
- Click New from the Account Settings dialog box, choose Email Account, and click next.
- Choose Manual Setup and click next.
- Choose POP or IMAP then click next.
- Fill out the account information, below is the information you need to complete this setup.
Your Name: The name you want displayed on your emails
Email address: Your full Gmail address including @gmail.com
Account Type: IMAP
Incoming mail server: imap.gmail.com
Outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com
User Name: Your full Gmail address including @gmail.com
Password: your Gmail password
- Click on More Settings … then click the Outgoing Server tab.
- Check the option for My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
- Select the option Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
- Click the Advanced tab and enter the following information.
Incoming server (IMAP): 993
Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL
Outgoing server (SMTP): 465
Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL
- Click OK then click Next, Outlook will now test your settings and connection to the Gmail servers.
- Click Finish, Outlook will now begin to synchronize your emails with the server.
